Art Student Painting

Just finished an oil painting for my students in Grade eight, to demonstrate how to paint an oil from start to finish.
I just put some finishing touches to it on Friday. Well I thought I was finished until Bear told me the sky and clouds didn't work! So the final finished one has the changed sky and clouds. I will post soon. Can't photograph it today, weather a bit wet!

Country Cottage in the Cape

My special friend Linda, a budding artist came for a surprise visit from Joey's. She wanted to watch me paint and learn a few tricks. So I got out a canvas and created what you see below. She watched the whole time until it was finished. Must say, was a bit nerve racking having someone watch you, but she's a dear friend so it was good fellowship having her.

Bears Crafty Day

On Saturday we had a "Bears Crafty Day" at our house. I displayed my paintings, jewellery and painted cloths (see pic of Helmine and Stefan with their purchase). Bear did his Padded Picture Frames, Sam her Honey jewellery, Ireen and her Journals and Note Pads and Pencil Pots, while Peggy attended to her Jean Guthrie Beauty Care Table. We had great support from friends and we sold well with other business being generated. Bear seemed to be making his Bearochino's all day. He was pretty wide eyed by the end of the day, drinking the dregs of the coffee after every batch he made. See pic(above) of my watercolours and my handmade jewellery (which I taught Bear how to make as well).

My Latest Painting

Well, I was blessed, my latest painting got sold while the paint was still drying...well, nearly, by about two days anyway. Thanks to Jean for purchasing it. It is a Cape seascape. The sea is reference from one picture and the foreground from another. I liked elements of both so I combined them. Oil and canvas.

Fire Sunset

Just finished a 'Firescape' oil. The sunset made the sky look like fire, and with the silhouette of the tree in front of the scene, it also looked on fire, I had to capture it. I painted this for Cheyne, as a present to hang in her new house.

Pauline's ' Miniatures'

I finished the three little' miniatures' (about A6 size). They seem just as hard as painting a large canvas!
They look good. Will post them soon.

My Karoo House Painting

I finshed my little Karoo house oil. Was a challenge filling in grass where there was a road, it seemed to work alright. See pic below.

Miniatures

Decided to take a break from the 'big' canvas and do 'miniatures' today for a friend (Pauline) who commissioned me. Well about 150mm square if you can call that miniature for oils!

My Own Blog

Hi, I finally got my own blog! I can keep you posted of my new paintings.
I'm busy with a painting of a little house we saw in the Karoo. There was a road in the way, so I had to ad lib and put some grass and trees in. Will have it up shortly.
